About Chiropody

What is Chiropody or Podiatry

Chiropodists, Podiatrists and Foot Health Professionals are specialists in the clinical care of the feet and associated structures, in much the same way as Dentists are specialists for teeth and Optometrists for eyes.

Most people with a foot or associated ailment may well have acquired the condition, and can be expected to respond favourably and rapidly to appropriate treatment.

In addition to the direct symptomatic relief provided by their Clinician, remedial advice concerning routine hygiene and good nail cutting techniques, through to correcting footwear and posture, both in stance and gait, will very soon bring most conditions under control.

Where a problem results from a congenital deformity from birth, an accident, gait or disease, or just the process of advancing years, your Chiropodist / Podiatrist / FHP will be able to provide you with palliative care, as a means of establishing maximum comfort and mobility.

PUTTING PATIENTS FIRST

Our members are graduates of the premier Training Institute of Chiropody and Podiatric Medicine in the UK, and may have one or more of the following abbreviations after their name: FSSCh, FBChA, MSSCh, MBChA or MAFHP. They will be pleased to see you, whether or not you have been referred by your Doctor, or other health professional.

Most of our Members offer Domiciliary treatment (home visiting service) for people who have Mobile Chiropodydifficulties with mobility, and will visit patients in their own homes, or special centres. Some have surgically equipped, fixed site, premises, offering a full range of clinical services for you to attend. Many of our members provide both of these facilities.

You may consult our members for any condition that is foot related, confident that having completed the extensive course of studies and training leading to their qualifications, they have gone on to enjoy the opportunities of Continual Professional Development through their Membership.
